Todd and Kristin, I can't tell you how many friends have asked how you are doing. All our thoughts and prayers are coming your way. Now about that name. I thought for sure that you would name her 'Nancy' after the wonderful aunt that made all this happen. Ha ha. Can't wait to see Abby!! Love always, Nancy

Thank you for posting pictures. What an absolutely beautiful baby girl! I am so happy for you and your family. We (my family, GCMC coworkers, and I) are praying continuously for Abby's and Kristen's recovery. God has blessed you with Abby and Sam - you are awesome parents! :-)

Thanks so much for sharing so much with us -like yourselves Kristin, Todd, Sam and Abby. We could not love you any more. There is nothing like hearing Sam say,'hi, papa' when he gets up in the morning. That is just the sweetest!!!!! Then there are those soft little cheeks of Abby. I am anxious to snuggle with her but can wait my turn. We love every part of being close enough to be able to do whatever we can. You are both such great parents that Sam and Abby with know how just how lucky they are to have the two of you. If they don't know it, I will share that with them. Keep up the good work.

Kristin and Todd, Abby is absolutely gorgeous. What a little doll baby! I know I can't imagine how hard the last 24 hours have been and that this latest struggle is tough, but I keep thinking about how you have overcome everything so far so I know that trend will continue. She is amazing! We will keep praying for a quick recovery. Can't wait to get the chance to meet her - Josi has seen pictures and she already wants to hold her! You may want to keep those big soft cheeks away from her Great Uncle John! We love you lots! Ann

Abby is so beautiful!!! And you guys are amazing parents. It doesn't sound like you need any help with such a supportive family, but don't hesitate to ask if you need anything. My heart goes out to you!

Hang in there Todd-a-rini, you guys are doing great. All the monitors are enough to drive you crazy and you're right about the morphine, it will slow things down but sounds like the right way to go. She is an amazing little girl. You and Kristin are pretty darn amazing too. Rest up and thank you so much for the pictures. Kristin, you have the best smile, it lights up the room even here in Georgia!

Actually this message is for Todd and Kristin to know Sam is sound asleep at the Lake after a very long day. This has been 3 long hard days for a 2 year old who has still never seen this baby Abby everyone is talking about. Today was a roller coaster day at the hospital, taking turns in NICCU seeing our precious angel Abby. I am so anxious to hold her close and just look at her peacefully, but that has not been an option yet. I know God is looking over her, but it is so hard. Sam came to stay for the next 2 days, and on the way to the Lake he started crying huge tears, and kept saying, 'Mom, Dad, Mom , Dad' over and over. He is so use to the day to day routine, he just can't understand what is going on. I was driving and started crying, so Dick turned towards the backseat to try to comfort him, and in the middle of his tears Sam says 'Papa Lake buckle, buckle'. Dick had unbuckled his seatbelt to turn around to console Sam, but Sam knows that is a no-no. It even made me laugh. Sam will be great with Abby, and he will be sure she knows all the rules. Dick and I also enjoy all of your notes. Todd and Kristin are blessed to have so many concerned family and friends. Thanks to everyone of you. Please keep Abby and family on your prayer list.

You're right, you can't see where the pacemaker is at all. She is so cute you guys!!! I'm going to try to give you a call tomorrow Kristin, I'll be at the hospital and would like to stop to see you. I have not been feeling that great so I went to the doctor today, seems as though my pacemaker has had enough after 9 years and I need a new one. So... tomorrow is my turn. You're at Mercy right? Anyway, I'd like to come a bit early and just see you! I know I probably won't be able to see Miss Abby, but want to say hi to you. I did mention her at my Iowa Heart Appt and it seems they've been speaking about her at the office... she's already a celebrity!!! Well, it's time for me to go to bed. Take care and hopefully I can see you tomorrow!

ROCK ON!!! Sounds like things are going pretty typical up in the NICU. My advice for today is to occupy yourself with something other than watching the monitors. I would get a little stressed out when Harrison's numbers would up and down and then send off the alarms.... They are a 'little' sensitive.... =) Abby will pull through her recovery just fine - she's been through a LOT the last few days. Remember for her 72 hours ago her home was warm and small and quiet and mom was doing most of the work for her.... Can not wait to HOLD her!! Hugs and LOVE to you all!

Thank you for the pictures. Abby is an absolute angel, and Kristin you look fabulous! Todd - thanks for keeping us all posted. I can't wait to hear about Abby's recovery. God is good! I hope you get a lot of rest so that you are ready to take your sweet baby girl home.

We are thrilled to hear the surgery went well. The pictures are adorable!! We will continue to send prayers your way. Congratulations to all of you and God bless.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you! Thank you for keeping us all updated! She is adorable and so is Sam. Take care and may God bless each one of you!
From: Mary and Gene - Lohrville, IA 4/16/2009 5:04:06 PM
Prayers of thanksgiving are being offered as we read the update. We are so appreciative for the pictures. She really looks quite strong. The picture where she is laying on her side seems to say 'Hey leave me alone for awhile, I need my beauty nap!' Also glad to see Sam wearing his big brother shirt. William wouldn't cooperate when Harrison was born which was a year ago next week! Can you believe it? The ICU pictures and talk of Grandparent care sound familiar and we are happy to say Harrison has passed all his tests since that first week. Still makes special trips to the Drs. but they tell us his progress is good. You are in good hands. Tell the staff Thank You from all of us! Give Abby and Sam hugs from Great Aunt Mary and Uncle Gene.

Kristin you look awesome! I hope your recovery is going ok. Abby is such a doll baby! It is so amazing the technology inside that little belly! We continue to pray for both of you to heal quickly so you can start your new 'normal' at home! Thank you Todd for keeping us all updated. It is nice when you are so far away!
From: Shannon and Philip Roam - Des Moines, IA 4/16/2009 3:02:28 PM
We are full of joy and cannot put into words the love that everyone is feeling for this little one...an angel kiss could not be more appropriate for your little angel. With our love, Shannon and Philip

So happy that the surgery is over and now she can heal. You two are brave and I admire your strength. There is something sooo painful about seeing your child hurt and not being able to 'fix' it yourself! I am beyond happy for you Kristin as you so deserve this family. I think Todd proves himself to be perfect for you. In my eyes, you deserved only the best. It is obvious of his love and admiration for you and his children. Abby is beautiful and I am praying for continued healing and strength for you two.

Wow! Such great news. I am so happy for all of you. Prayers and modern medicine, what a great combination. Abby sure is a beautiful girl.

Hi Guys. How wonderful to hear of the arrival of Abby and the successful surgery. We've been following your blog, but have been a little preoccupied ourselves these days with our new arrival, so haven't posted anything recently. We had you pegged for another boy...Todd's going to learn what it's like for a little girl to have her daddy wrapped around her finger. Enjoy her. Congratulations.
